Hi there!
My name is Eric Henning and I’m a full-time professional magician, speaker and author. In fact, I’ve been performing magic for money since I was 10 years old – more than 40 years! I’ve appeared all over the world, from the streets of Paris to the White House, where I performed for President and Mrs. Obama and the First Family. Over the last fifteen years, I’ve been very lucky to work numerous Presidential events, including three Inaugurals, two Easter Egg Rolls (for Mrs. Laura Bush), and three National Christmas Tree Lightings. One White House agency has booked me for their Holiday Party ten years running!
“Eric, I want to thank you for helping to make the Halloween celebration at the White House such a success. The President and I had a wonderful time, and this year’s event was spectacular…” – Mrs. Michelle Obama, Washington, DC
I’m not telling you any of this to brag; far from it. I am very much aware of how lucky I’ve been. But you need to know that I speak from experience.
A few years ago, some of my magician friends starting asking me out to lunch.
They all had one thing in common: they needed help. Some had a problem in their marketing, others had business questions, and still others had hit a wall with their show and wanted to break through.
I found myself having the same conversations over and over. I kept wondering why people didn’t know some of the things I was sharing.
Then it hit me:
HOW COULD THEY KNOW?
Where would they go to learn these things?
They weren’t tricks; we already know too many tricks. They weren’t to be found in any marketing course.
They were simply the fruit of decades of experience; a.k.a., “learning things the hard way.”
I called them “TIPS” and in 2003 wrote my first book, “TIPS: Real-World Ideas From A Working Magician.”
It was aimed mainly at close-up restaurant magicians. It got a BIG response.
Here’s what a few people had to say about it:
– Al Cohen, Magic Legend
“Eric has given the working magician unbelievably valuable pieces of knowledge that are only learned by years of experience. This information is worth its weight in gold. Fabulous.” – Doc Eason
“This is a really fine book of advice that will save you time, energy and potential embarrassment. TIPS…is a real bargain.” – Michael Close, MAGIC Magazine
